INFORMATION AND PUBLIC RELATIONS
The District Public Relations Office is a District Unit of the Information and Public Relations Department and play a vital role as an official media in projecting the image of Government Policies, Schemes, Programmes from time to time. The functions of the District Public Relations Office are multifarious and linked with communication network like Print and Electronic Media. The office also functions as a facilitates between the Govt. and the people. The office disseminate the public views and reactions about various schemes in form of feed back reports so as to take corrective measures at Govt. level, if necessary. The District Public Relations Office is a model in responding to the requests / pleas of common public. The Major functions of the DPRO office (Public Information offices/Asst. Information offices) are as follows:-

Releasing of success and Human Interest Stories depicting the Success of persons benefited under various Govt schemes
Releasing of feature articles, backgrounders etc., highlighting the activites of various depts.
Issue of Accreditation cards to Media Persons
Appraising the District Collector and other higher officials about the news items appeared in newspapers daily.
Issue of Rejoinders on adverse items published in newspapers.
Publishing of booklets, leaflets, Folders, brochures, etc. highlighting the activities and progress made by different departments functioning in the District.
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Media Relations:
To publicise the activities of the Government through mass media, this office maintains liason with print and electronic media. In a democracy like ours, the media plays an important role in the formation of public opinion. The media relations wing of the Department maintains cordial relations with the Fourth estate and utilizes it to hightlight the welfare and developmental activites of the Government and for effective coverage of the programmes .
Information Centres:
The Department has set-up information centers with a view to provide reading facility to the visiting public and create awareness among the Government policies, welfare and developmental progammes. These centers subscribe for new papers and journals in English, Telugu and Urdu languages besides maintaining a reference library. The visual aids such as maps, charts, photographs are displayed on welfare and development. The centers are open to the public on all working days.
Exhibitions:
The Department organizes exhibitions on important occasions. The exhibitions serve as an effective medium of publicity among the all sections of the people. The Department co-ordinates with other departments in presenting colourful tableaux on welfare and development themes on the occasion of National Festivals, Photographic exhibitions are oprganised at Jathras, religious festival, V.V.I.Ps visits which attracts huge crowds and create awareness on Government welfare and developmental programmes.
Song & Drama:
The Department is utilising the services of traditional art forms like Harikatha, Burrakatha, Oggukatha, Pallesuddulu, Dappu Nruthyam, Mimicry & Magic Shows and Street Plays etc. to publicise the welfare and developmental programmes of the government. The cultural programmes are organized at Jathras, fairs, festival, Industrial Exhibitions and on important festive occasions to create mass awareness on development programmes.
Photo Services:
Photography plays an important role in publicity and mass communication. The Department arranges photo coverages to VVIPs visits, welfare and development achieved by the Government. It also supplies photos to print and electronic media for wide publicity.
Adhoc Publications:
The Department brings out the appropriate publications to create awareness among the public whenever the Government launches new policies and programmmes.
Press Accreditations:
Accreditation is issued to the media to provide access to source of information in the Government. The state government has laid down rules for issue of accreditation. There is a district level committee under the Chairmanship of District Collector for issue of press accreditation.
